4.0 out of 5 stars Full Rich Sound, November 19, 2007
By
This review is from: Bose In-Ear Headphones (Old Version) (Electronics)
I wasn't positive I wanted to spend $100 on earbuds, but I'm glad I did. Bose has solved the silicon earpiece problem you read about in almost every review. The snap on silicon cover fits securely and doesn't detach without a fight. So bravo to Bose for taking care of that. Now for the sound! If you spend $200 or $300 for the really high end earbuds you aren't going to be able to discern any difference. The Bose delivers full bass and crystal clear highs. I had no idea how great my iPod could sound, the iPod earbuds are an insult to it. Use your accoustic setting on your iPod equalizer for a great range of sound.

1.0 out of 5 stars Common problem with durability, September 7, 2009

As noted in many reviews already posted, there is a quality problem with these earphones. After less than 18 months of gentle use (but over the 12-mo warranty) the wires and their protective covering frayed and separated where they enter the jack. Bose service rep says this is not repairable (I can't imagine why not, except they'd rather not). He offered me the 'opportunity' to replace the earphones for $50. Say what? Why would I want to pay that for the same product after it fell apart? As usual, Bose's promotion and advertising far exceeds product performance.

1.0 out of 5 stars They just don't hold up and aren't worth the extra $$$ - Fascinating Update, April 13, 2010
By
This review is from: Bose In-Ear Headphones (Old Version) (Electronics)
I've had these two years and the sound quality is better than the stock ipod ear buds. But of course it should be. What the sound quality isn't is 5 times better than the $20 stock ear buds. But that would be OK, since sound quality is a relatively subjective thing and others might think they are 10 times better. The reason for the bad review is the product durability. I lost the silicone ear pieces, but got some new ones and was thereafter more carefull. They would still come off in my pocket or elsewhere and came close to getting lost again. But that was still OK. After all, you can always get more. The killer for me is that like many others on this site, the wiring on my ear buds is now disconnecting from the back of the jack. The sound is starting to go. I called the very friendly and easy to reach customer service department who advised that since I was well beyond the one year warranty, I could buy a new pair for 50% off. I asked why I would want to throw more money... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Right On Purchase, December 23, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
I purchased this PATA writer for my sisters old Dell 4400 she's attached to. It installed easy, just plugged it in, windows installed drivers for it and does everything it's supposed to do. It' writes CD'S, DVD'S, Dual Layer DVD'S, burns labels on Lite-On disc, etc. Would purshase again. I use a different version of this writer in my PC but it's SATA and it works great and it's fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars PATA vs. SATA for DVD writers, May 4, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This was an used item, but it performed admirably. A PATA drive (that's IDE to us old guys) is measurably slower than a SATA drive, but in the case of a DVD write, that difference is negligible. We're talking milliseconds in transfer rates as in the case of reading a DVD and transferring the information to your hard drive, which is a lot slower than transfer rates from the hard drive to the CPU. But the minimal speed difference between a PATA and SATA DVD device is hardly worth the much larger difference in price between the two.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Lot For An Outstanding Price, July 8, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This DVD drive is on the higher end of optical drive technology as far as its speeds go. Of course, multi-drives like this generally have lower CD-ROM speeds than ordinary CD-ROM drives, and I don't deny that my old CD-ROM is faster reading CD's (it's 52x rather than this Lite-On 48x). But for a DVD drive, this one has the better speeds.

Furthermore, this DVD drive comes with Nero Essentials 7 (at least mine did), which allows you to view and touch-up digital photos, record videos with your digital camera (sold separately), cut & splice clips to make movies, build video DVD's and audio CD's, and more!

This drive's compatibility is also a big plus. I've seen optical drives that don't like working with Windows XP, but this one works just fine. It uses standard Windows drivers, so you don't have to install Nero just to use the drive.

The only old-fashioned feature of this drive is its being PATA (though that takes an unreal amount off the price, or... Read more

The quality control on this product had to have been non-existent. The flap on the case to tuck the cover into to create a stand was sewn on so crooked the production line personnel must have been drunk. Save your money on this case.

2.0 out of 5 stars Seems good for the price, November 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase( What's this?)
This review is from: Poetic PU Leather Folio Case for Amazon Kindle Fire (Black) (Electronics)
I ordered this in anticipation of the new Kindle Fire. The cover arrived today and seems to have a decent build quality and workmanship. It is a simple cover but not bad for $10. My biggest concern is the way the cover folds - there is no stitching to support the folds so the leather has to bend. I will update this review after I am able to use the product for a week or so with the Fire.

After using this cover for a day with my Fire I have decided to change my rating. The leather is too thin and already has unsightly creases in it. More problematic, the edges are sharp and cut into your hand when holding and the border around the screen prevents you from easily reaching the options menus on the Fire which are at the top and bottom.

I was very excited to find my Kindle Fire when I got home from work tonight. And then I was exceedingly disappointed to find that this lovely case does NOT fit the Kindle Fire!! It's more ipad sized, if not bigger! The Fire doesn't even touch the sides of the edges. They must have sent me the wrong one, i guess, but the bag says it's the right one, so i'm puzzled. and now i have to shop once again for a case! November 22 update: the company fixed the issue, sent me the correct case and a return label to return them their ipad case. The case seems like a good one, with a magnetic closure and a secure hold on the Fire. I also appreciate the company's quick response.
